Kevin Haynes Chat...

A wee word from club captain Kevin Haynes, the big man is ready for another season at the Jags & looking forward to the league games coming round...

After completing my umpteenth pre-season at Dalkeith I'm now officially the most senior player at the club!

A few boys have moved on for football reasons and a few have retired. Following two decent seasons back to back our aim this year should be to cement our place in the Premier League. We still have the core of the squad that won the South Division in 2011/12 so there is no reason why we shouldn't now be considered an established Premier League club.

The committee and management team have been working hard behind the scenes to bring in new players and we’re all buzzing about the year ahead. With everything going on off the park, our ambition is to make this club one of the best in the East of Scotland without a doubt. We have a brand new set of floodlights, plans for new buildings within Kings Park and a newly appointed club Physio looking after any injuries the lads pick up, all of which will become a factor in attracting new players.

New committee members have come on board to help bring further sponsorship to the club which is the be all and end all for all football clubs. There is definitely lots going on to continue improve the footballing side of things which will hopefully bring more supporters along to Kings Park to cheer on the boys.

Speaking on behalf of the players I know that as the majority of us are local, we want the club to be successful now and in the future which is why we have committed another year of our playing careers to Dalkeith Thistle - although I’m sure a few of the boys are probably wishing I'd retired with the others in the summer!

Here's hoping we have another successful season and the players enjoy playing for the club again, and most of all that our supporters enjoy following our team.

Kevin
